My friend and I didn’t bring ours (bad planning) but Michael let us BORROW HIS! I was so grateful because on the hike, towards the top ,we definitely needed them.
Along with being a supervisor Michael and his wife have these BINDERS with more information than (Hidden by Airbnb) ! It’s organized into categories of hiking, dining, fishing, horseback riding, pretty much any activity you can do out there he has it mapped out with direction in a laminated binder. It was amazing cause I couldn’t decide on where to park and where to go and that binder helped me so much!
The night sky here is also INCREDIBLE! I saw the Milky Way and it was just beautiful especially being from a city where you don’t get to see that every night.
Just don’t plan on watching tv, but with the views you won’t want too and there’s a closet full of games so this really is a nice place to nuts sit back and unplug yourself from the hustle and bustle of the world, I really enjoyed my time here.

Old Rag is very close and we therefore… read more managed to avoid the crowds which was the reason for the visit. Flat is lovely with a beautiful private terrace, wood fire pit (with firewood and marshmallow tongs provided), good amenities as listed. Michael and Elizabeth are lovely hosts who go out of their way to be helpful.

Local town was quite closed with the only restaurant turning us away because they were too busy at 6.40pm on a Saturday – but we drove on to Culpeper that had more choices on Michael’s recommendation.

Lots of nice wineries nearby for after walking, and within good distance of a few civil war towns (e.g. Fredericksburg).
